SYSTEM SELECTION

Your system should fit your home, your sun exposure, your lifestyle and your budget. Like a good tailor, the installer will find one that suits you.

First, the installer will ensure that your home site is right for solar thermal. They will evaluate your site and show you the best spots on your roof or property to place your new solar system.

Second, the installer will make sure the spot receives a minimum of 75% of the potential annual sun exposure for your area.

Third, the installer will look at your heating/hot water bills to help in sizing the system.

Finally, the installer will work with you to select a solar hot water system that fits into your budget with room to spare.

Solar thermal technology might not be a perfect solution for every scenario. But it is much less finicky than solar electric. Here is a quick checklist. Face South: Your roof should be facing in a southerly direction, or you should have a yard with a southern exposure that has enough  mounted or pole-mounted system.

Shading: There should be little or no shade on your roof between the hours of 9AM and 3PM.

Financial Ability: Solar thermal systems are the most affordable systems available and can be financed with zero interest loans for qualified buyers. We can facilitate the loan process. If you meet these criteria, or feel that you are close enough, please feel free to call us for a quick and easy evaluation.

The installer will quickly install solar thermal domestic hot-water systems, space heating, or pool heating systems. Once you’ve chosen the system that is right for you, you’ll put down a deposit and the project will begin.

Here’s what to expect.

1) The installer will arrange for local permitting.

2) Upon receipt of the appropriate local permits, the installer will schedule the installation with you. The installation work will take 2-8 days, depending on the size of the job, the complexity of the job and our friend, the weather.

3) The installer will arrange for the inspections by the municipal inspectors.

4) After the last inspection, your system will be turned on. It will immediately begin saving money for you while reducing greenhouse gases for all of us.
